Hey you! Yeah you! Time to hit the ground running!

Click on people's names to visit there profiles!

Click on the little thing at the top right corner of the screen to "watch" them. That means being alerted when they are active with there profiles! Or basically adding them to your "friends" list!

Leave comments on other peoples artwork or profiles by clicking (Add yours) next to words Devious Comments.

Remember to treat others how you would like to be treated!



You can add a little jazz to whatever you're saying by adding emoticons!

When typing a comment, next to your text will be a box. Those are good but not what you're looking for!
Under the box is the little word "Emoticons". Click that to open a library of wondrous smileys that are sure to better whatever point you have to make across! ^^

There are so many! In order to use them Do this:

Don't put any spaces when using them for real!

This also works for icons as well! My username is KACItheCAT! So to make my icon appear you have to type the word 'icon' before my name.
Just like this:

: icon kacithecat :

Don't use spaces for those either! Here's a good example of the weird things you can do!


That requires special "Icon emoticons" but you will soon learn about and discover some cool ones!

To see what they are called, hover your mouse over the icon and the usename for the code should appear. Try it with the wing!

You can make a username into a link the same way but instead of using the word 'icon', use the word 'dev' which results in this:

You can also add jazz to what you're saying by messing with the text for comments or descriptions!

To do that you must use codes that look like this! < b > *insert text here* < / b >. Again, makes these with out spaces. It comes out like this. Bold text is bold!
There are a few different codes but here are some.

< b > = Bold effect

< i > = Italic effect

< sub > = _{Smaller text effect. Can be done more than once for even smaller words!}

< strike > = Crossed out text

< h1 > =

Large Epic Title Text!

< h2> =

MOAR Large Epic Text!

Not much of a difference~

< h3 > =

Moderately Epic Title Text!

To change a link into words instead of "[link]" you
DO NOT need a subscription. _{I originally thought this was the case...}

< a href="url here" > words < /a > = Words for a link!
There are no spaces except between a href


This one works for journals!
< div align="center" > = center alignment of all your text. End this one with < /div >
There are no spaces except between div align


Don't forget to make the second part with the "/" or the code wont work.




If you don't want other people to see what you are saying to your friends send them a note! Click next to the Watch this Deviant button I mentioned earlier!

If you really like a certain picture you can add it to your Favorites by clicking or dragging the pic to the top of the screen and into your favorites! These can always be viewed for later! But dont forget to add a comment first! ;D



Your Profile!
If you're JUST starting out, you'll prolly want to make yourself look cool!
You can do that by uploading an Icon!
Your icon has to be a picture that is 50 x 50 pixels. Any bigger and dA wont allow it's upload.

To upload an icon, go to the button that says More and click Edit settings. From there, on the left side will be a small list that says Public and Personal. Under Public, click Identity. There will be a box and button to choose your icon from your personal computer files.

In the same place you went to choose your icon, you can also customize your signature! Your signature is that funny, meaningful, or pointless saying you see under a lot of deviants' comments. You can add emotes and links but you cannot add icons.



If you want to use one of your pictures as your deviant ID, you would actually have to do it while categorizing your submission. When you are submitting a picture, you must put it under deviantART related and then under deviantID

Only pictures you put in that category can be used as an ID.


How to Screenshot (Print Screen)
Because some people dont understand how it works, _{Myself included at one point..} Its not instant.
Press the Prt Sc button that most everyone should have on their keyboard. Then paste into a program like MS Paint. Prt Sc is like Copy. Nothing will show up when you press the button lol
